Tom Meloche believes the system he has developed at Procuit better matches the brain's learning architecture better than any other.

Tom Meloche wants Procuit to be known as the knowledge transfer (training) company on Facebook (download 6 minute iPod compatible video, 30MB). In a year, he would like to have thousands of curricula up and be cash flow positive even though they may be giving away 80% of their material for free. These goals are achievable if Procuit focuses its marketing on vertical segments and sells content that it knows already sells.

But Tom has a larger goal. He wants to put content up in a way that makes it possible for every child to master the basics of a K12 education no matter where they live. If MIT's ambition is to provide one laptop per child, Tom's ambition is to make sure those children are actually learning something from the laptop. He believes the system he has developed at Procuit better matches the brain's learning architecture better than any other.

I found your thoughts on narrowing your marketing strategy interesting. You stated that your business is very broad and covers a lot of information; however for marketing purposes you were going to focus on one aspect or a concentrated portion of this. I think that is a great idea. I do feel that this will be successful for your company. It is hard to successfully advertise for a broad range of things, and narrowing the ideas down will increase the success. If people are made aware of your ideas, they will research and find out that you have more to offer. Facebook is a very popular entity, and many people are active on that website every day, including myself. I think that choosing this as a way to get your name out there, is a great idea. I do feel that over the years since I have been in school teaching has not changed much. So much is the same, that I wonder if any research at all is being conducted to find out if there is a better way to learn and how that can be implemented into school. I think that your company may have a way to do that. I think that is great. You mentioned having a goal for the next year. What are your long term goals? Or do you find that setting short term goals is more successful and realistic?

Tom, your idea is very interesting. I agree with you that high school education can be improved dramatically. As an undergraduate business student at Eastern Michigan University, I have seen the inequality of education that high school graduates bring to the next level. This could be due to lack of effort by a student or lack of education they were provided in the district they attended school. Your program will help to eliminate the gap of knowledge that exists between high school students all over the world. Using Facebook is a genius marketing ploy, because it is accessible by almost every high school and college student in the world. Once parents learn about your services of improving the long term memory of their children, your business will boom. My high school education was mediocre, and I learned that quickly when I got to college. If I had a program to fall back on such as this one, I have no doubts that my test scores would have been better and I might have even gotten an academic scholarship. It is time to change the way children learn material, because times have changed drastically. Back when you went to school, calculators were probably scarce, and the long hand form was all anyone knew. Today, kids depend on calculators without taking time to learn the theories behind their calculations. Your program can help children learn theories as well as many other examples you provided in the video. I will keep an eye out on Facebook for your marketing initiatives. I look forward to hearing about your business in the future. Feel free to contact me at any time. I can be reached at bcholett@emich.edu.
