The Ann Arbor Film Festival provides a venue for filmmakers interested in the art of film to show their work (download 6 minute iPod compatible video, 33MB). These filmmakers receive exposure, can gain awards, are paid for their films' showings. Inclusion in the festival program is prestigious with only 130 to 150 of the 2000 submissions annually making it.

The audience for the film festival draws from the regional creative class with attendees arriving from as far away as Milwaukee and Toronto. These patrons support the festival by buying tickets and merchandise. Donald Harrison, the director of community development, is interested in moving into online ticket sales and commemorative DVDs.

Hello Mr. Harrison, I am a big fan of the Ann Arbor film festival. I have attended only one but I enjoyed myself very much. I like that the festival gives artists a chance to express themselves, through their work. I think the opportunity is amazing because it gives the artists exposure, recognition and a sense of self fulfillment. I know these artists work hard at what they do, and you giving them an opportunity is great. I am a student at Eastern Michigan University, graduating in April 2008. As a student that is interested in film making, this festival gives me inspiration. I want to one day create my own short film in hopes that people will travel from all over to view it. I believe fans will continue to travel from all over to enjoy the art of film.
