Kevin Phillips, founder of LTI-IT, believes in setting a point on the horizon and then sailing for it (download 7 minute iPod compatible video, 34MB). He began his journey 12 years ago as an internal IT technician for LimnoTech, the parent of LTI-IT. After 3 years, he had succeeded in getting LimnoTech's network to a very high level of performance, and he was ready to leave.

LimnoTech countered with an offer to let him start a division. Five years ago, they made the decision to start spinning that division out to a separate company. In the next 5 years, he would like the company to go national. He believes their training advantage will enable this move, and they already have projects in Washington, D.C., and Tijuana, Mexico.

What a great innovation of how a current system that is working can be brought to the next level. With Kevin being already well educated and informed on what the industry needed he not only created a great product but help the original company succeed farther in the corporate system. With computers becoming the norm in businesses, schools, and homes the IT is needed more to support the daily issues that arise. We all have experienced a computer or server problem at the wrong times so a company like LTI Information Technology not only eases the frustration but creates a reliable source for future expanding. With the company starting out slow and now slowing growing 30 to 40% just shows there is a market for IT companies and without them I truly feel the computer industry would be at a disadvantage. What I found interesting was how his original company Kevin was working for recognized the talent of their employee and also the great ideas he came up with and decided to partner with him. This shows not only the dedication to the IT community but also how they listen to their employees. This is a great example of how great companies and employees can create a market to help others with their problems.
