RentLinx' market is landlords. But, how do you reach that market with no budget? In this segment, Jeremy Schneider, RentLinx' founder, describes how RentLinx giveaway marketing plan came to them by serendipity. Highlights include:

  • RentLinx used to sell web sites to landlords. They approached rental associations to try to get more connections with landlords.
  • Jamie Schmunk, a board member of one of these associations, suggested they create a product that the associations could market for free to their members.
  • After some consideration, RentLinx created PartnerLinx, a white label apartment search solution that associations market to their members. When members input their data, they do so on the RentLinx site and have the opportunity to purchase value added services.
  • Associations have accounted for all of RentLinx marketing and have earned RentLinx a nationwide connection with the National Real Estate Investors Association.

Hello my name is NyAngel O’Neal and I’m a student at Eastern Michigan University and this semester I’m enrolled in an entrepreneur class. This semester we are learning about different businesses and entrepreneur. In the interview with Jeremy Schneider, he discusses the services he offers for landlords. RentLinx is a website that market landlords. They have a website where local landlords can post there property. They work with different associations so that they can market to local landlord. I think that RentLinx is doing a good job by promoting the apartment for local landlord. By having the free marketing really help small landlords out. It was a broad member name Jamie Schmunk who suggest to Jeremy Schneider to get this association together. In the spring I will be looking for an apartment. When I move, I don’t want to move in a large apartment community, I would probably rent from a small landlord who might have free marketing from RentLinx In the interview Jeremy stated that he was trying to figure out an amount to charge landlord but he didn’t find that magic number and he decide that it would be free. I think this idea is working great for Rentlinx it seems that Jeremy Schneider is doing a great job. The interview shows that company is growing and increasing the number of landlord that added to there association. In the interview I didn’t here Jeremy mention a website I could go to see what landlord has property posted. I assume it is a website just not mention in the interview. Close to the end of the interview it seems like part of the interview was cut off. I think this business will grow and keep adding to the association. If I was landlord I would take advantage of this type of services.

As a user of Rentlinx.com I know this is a great idea. It is great to learn a little bit more from behind the scenes. I have used this to find places for rent. They have partnered with organizations to have them offer Rentlinx advertisements for their properties for free! A lot of people don’t have money to advertise and this is a great product. Their marketing scheme is unique and makes them who they are. They use word of mouth through their connections with apartment and rental organizations to expand. The best part of the entire thing is that it’s free. I can’t believe that a company makes money off of letting people advertise for free but they do it. There are so many places for rent in the current market and this is a great place for them to list your properties. Rentlinx is all about giving the customer (landlords) what they need to sell their place. If I could ask Jeremy Schneider one question, I would ask him if he would like this company to be national or even as big as international? He did mention they were in a few other states but where would he like to be next?
